The world famous 115 foot fishing mother ship, The Madam and its new game boat, Wild Hooker, has become added incentive to enter the 24th annual World Cup Blue Marlin Championship (World Cup).
The angler catching the largest blue marlin over 500 lbs on July 4th , fishing in the World Cup will win a 3 day trip for 5 aboard the newly renovated The Madam and sleek 61 custom Carolina sportfisherman, Wild Hooker in addition to the tournament winnings. The world traveling sport fishing operation itinerary includes, Ascention Island in October/November, Brazil during January and February, and Cape Verde Islands in April to August. Popular and well known Captain Clay Hensley will command the fishing operation. He also runs the "Hooker" fishing operation in Ghana, West Africa. Capt. Hensley has several world records to his credit and has fished just about all of the big marlin hot spots on the planet.
The very unique World Cup, which traditionally is fished every Fourth of July is a one day event which allows anglers to fish any where in the world from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in their particular time zone. During the 2007 tournament,143 teams from 15 countries and territories entered the competition. Locations varied from Angola and Portugal in the east, to Tahiti in the Western Pacific and many marlin hot spots in between. The winning marlin of 728 lbs was landed in Bermuda and won a cash prize of $343,400. An additional prize of over $150,000 for the optional "Big Blue Challenge" was returned to the Challenge participants since none of them caught a blue marlin over 500 lbs.
Capt. Hensley said The Madam, made famous by previous owners Jerry and Deborah Dunaway and more recently operated as "God's Will" is currently undergoing complete up grading. The World Cup winners in this years World Cup will be invited for three days fishing on the Wild Hooker with accomodations on The Madam at Ascention Island, one of the world's great blue marlin hot spots. It is also one of the most difficult locations to fish due to it's remoteness and lack of comfortable facilities. The Madam and Wild Hooker make it possible to fish the location in comfort with a top professional crew. Transportation is not included in the package.
