This exciting event has taken place on July 4 each year since 1985. Already, 2009 teams have registered on line from the and Canary Islands in the east to Kona, Hawaii in the west. At least 15 foreign countries are expected to be represented in the starting team lineup.
The registration fee is $3,000 and covers all anglers on the team. There is an optional $5,000 Big Blue Challenge available which adds even more excitement, not to mention potential monetary reward.
This year Black Bart Lures, the official lure of the World Cup, has designed a special 25th anniversary commemorative World Cup tee shirt. The shirt is available in both long and short sleeve through Black Bart. Their web site is www.blackbartlures.com.
Teams can register on line with a credit card to fish the World Cup at www.bluemarlinworldcup.com. The web site contains complete rules, application form and a list of all past winners and winning locations.
